AMP SHOWCASE: June 3-4, 2022
Black Theatre Workshop’s Artist Mentorship Program is proud to present its Annual Showcase! As part of BTW’s co-curation with the NAC, the 2021-22 AMP Ensemble will take the stage in Ottawa, on the National Art Center’s stage.
AMP is a 7-month training program offered to emerging artists at the beginning of their careers.
The mission is to provide Black and other emerging artists a unique opportunity to strengthen their skills preparing them for professional careers in the arts, while also enhancing their ability to articulate their artistic practice. Training is offered in disciplines such as acting, directing, playwriting, design, stage management and theatre administration. Artists receive expert mentor guidance throughout the season, participate in weekly sessions including workshops, audition preparation, mock pitch sessions, discussions with guest artists and script readings, and are offered apprenticeship and/or assistant opportunities with BTW and partnering companies. At the end of the training period, artists participate in our Industry Showcase, where potential engagers are invited to witness the ensemble’s work.
