Remembering Dr. Clarence Bayne
“Last Saturday, the Board and staff of BTW joined the community in celebrating the life and accomplishments of Dr. Clarence Bayne. Gatherers shared memories and condolences with family and friends, to the gentle ringing of Steelpan, and the recitation of his poetry, just as he wished. He will be missed.”

As Co-Founder of Black Theatre Workshop, Executive Director and active member of the Board of Directors until his passing, Dr. Bayne has made countless contributions to BTW’s future and legacy. He has been BTW’s, and by extension, Montreal’s English language theatre community’s greatest advocate and supporter, dedicating countless hours and resources to its success. Balancing his involvement with numerous other companies and associations, he has consistently not only opened doors for and uplifted others, but through his life of advocacy, ensured that those doors remained open. He led the Board of Directors with unwavering passion and rigour, leaving a lasting impact on our community.
Dr. Clarence Bayne will be greatly missed by the BTW community and our team remains determined to honour his legacy.
